Supplying Print Artwork
Supplying artwork ready for print
If you create your own artwork you will need to supply artwork ready to the printer. High resolution artwork is typically large in filesize so transmitting the artwork by email may either take to long or not be permitted from a firewalled or protected computer network.
File Transfer Protocol also known as FTP
It is possible to upload pop up artwork directly to a print company server. This means that the print company can directly download the artwork to their print management console computers.
Printers can usually supply FTP details upon request.
1) Just type ftp.xxxx.con into your web browser.
2) You will then be asked to enter a username and password (given to you by the printer)
3) (If using Internet Explorer) Tools > Open FTP Site In Explorer
4) Drag your artwork files into the window and wait for the upload to complete
Post a CD
You can post artwork to your printer, but this will take 1 or 2 days to arrive.
You Send It
If you have a file account with a data service provider it is possible to email a printer a link to your file space to download your files.
Sending large files via the internet isn’t impossible, but if you’re doing it for the first time it can be daunting. Please contact your printer if you are having difficulty sending artwork to them – they do it every day and should be familiar with helping customers transmit their files ready for printing.
